Every successful agency needs people who keep the work, time, clients, and teams — yep, all of them — organized. Sami Tighe, our Junior Staff Accountant, is one of those amazing pros here at CID. Sami is diligent, persistent, and able to handle tough tasks — like making sure everyone’s timesheets are completed on time — with good humor and grace. Let’s get to know her better!
Q: To get things rolling, let’s hear your personal elevator pitch. How would you describe your role at CID?
A: This is a great question that depends on the day, but let’s go with Wes’ (our CFO) right-hand man! Mostly, I’m in charge of the day-to-day financials for CI Design internally and also for all of the projects that are ongoing – timecards, vendor invoicing, payroll processing, and ensuring that current projects have good budget health!
Q: Ok. We’re passing you the megaphone for this one. Tell us one thing you wish everyone knew about your job.
A: One of the things I love most in life is a good puzzle. So one thing I wish everyone knew is how much I love solving problems and collaborating with new teammates on how to reach the best solutions!
Q: What do you enjoy most about working at CID?
A: The people, of course! We've gained so many new faces over the last couple of years and the culture continues to grow and get better!
Also, I’d feel silly for not taking the time to say that I love working at CID because the job that I was initially hired to do is not the position that I’m in now. Instead of sending me on my way they made a new position that not only suited my strengths much better but allowed Wes to take on more tasks that he’d been wanting to work on!
Q: Who inspires you? Do you have any professional mentors or personal heroes you’d like to shout out?
A: I’m very close with my aunt, Jen; she is my hero in all facets of life, really! She is the Senior Director of Regional Strategy & Implementation for the American Cancer Society, my love for the outdoors and sense of adventure came directly from her, and she is my greatest adviser when it comes to any problem.
Q: You are known as the Master of Time here at CID, but what are some of your other talents, hobbies, or superpowers outside of the office?
A: I’d say my #1 superpower is being a mom to my daughter, Charlotte. She is almost two which is arguably the best and worst age! Outside of being a mom, I love love love to travel, eat, & experience new cultures!
Q: Now for the fun stuff! What’s a hobby, interest, or pass-time you’ve been enjoying lately?
A: All my life I’ve definitely been more of a left-brained person, numbers, science, and history. But as I’ve gotten older, and especially now that I have a daughter who loves music, I’ve always wanted to learn an instrument. So after my family trip to Hawaii, I was inspired by the ukulele, which I’ve been teaching myself for the past couple of weeks!
Q: This is a big one for the folks here at CID (no pressure!), so we’re all dying to know your thoughts on this hot topic…Hot dogs: are they sandwiches?
A: A hamburger is a sandwich. A hotdog is its own category. I have so much more to say but we can leave it at that
Q: Let’s leave our readers with some Sami-approved words of wisdom. What is a mantra, motto, catchphrase, or personal code that motivates and inspires you?
A: After Charlotte was born my husband (Pat) and I were talking and we decided to come up with our family values, a small reminder for all of us.
I’d seen this video, probably on TikTok, to choose three words from this list of close to 100 words based on the question, “What three words help guide you or help make decisions in your everyday life?”. We both had written down family and then we each chose the other word on our list that was most important to us. So our family values are Family. Balance. Respect.
It seems too simple, but I genuinely think about those words now in most of the decisions I make!
