Q: How would you describe your role at CID?
A: In short, I help businesses strategically showcase their brands online and help them grow and reach goals with their digital presence both organically and through paid mediums.
Q: What is something that you wish everyone knew about your role, your work, or your team?
A: My role at CID is only as good as the team members I work with and the culture here is top-notch in my opinion. I appreciate everyone’s experience, input, and ideas because the diversity of thought and creative collaboration only makes us better.
Q: Let’s give our readers a peek behind the curtain. How is life as a CIDer? What aspects of our work and culture do you enjoy?
A: I really enjoy having a flexible, part-time schedule that allows me time to relax and recoup my energy weekly. I am also an artist and writer and CID has always recognized we are more than just marketers – we are multidimensional humans.
I also really appreciate how supportive everyone on the team is and the genuine authenticity we show each other daily.
Q: Tell us about something that’s been bringing you joy lately.
A: I am creative by nature, and that has been bringing me joy lately. I am into all types of creative hobbies but mostly visual art in the form of painting and critical writing about the art world.
I have also been fortunate enough to be able to travel often, and am joyful that this allows me to continue developing my photography skills along the way.
Q: Can you tell us a little bit about your art, and what it’s like to be a member of Milwaukee's artist community?
A: I think I have always been an artist, stemming from my family’s crafty background. I grew up in a lower-income environment and often my family crafted decorations from inexpensive or recycled materials. At an early age my sisters, my cousins, and I were drafted to help create beautiful things to help celebrate beautiful moments. It taught me that creativity can be used in so many aspects of life.
My art has reflected these teachings by way of incorporating and experimenting with textiles and other textured mediums within my paintings.
Over the last few years, I have seen my art grow and evolve to explore my cultural heritage as a Puerto Rican a lot more. I find myself researching our history and culture more and representing that in what I paint, photograph, or write about. I am grateful to be connected with so many brilliant artists from all walks of life, that inspire me to continue m
y journey as an artist and ideally bring joy and curiosity to those that view my work.
Q: Do you have any professional mentors or personal heroes you’d like to shout out?
A: I draw inspiration from my family and in particular the women in my family who have always shown me strength even in the face of adversity and hard times. I would echo that with drawing inspiration from the women leaders I have worked with, especially women of color.
One person that stands out in particular is Tulsi Gandhi, whom I met and had the privilege to work with during my time in California, where I was working for a big agency and very large corporate clients. She helped me get through the challenges that come with a corporate environment and taught me so much of what she had learned about strategy for digital campaigns. More importantly though, she showed me that there could be a balance when it comes to starting a family while also working full-time.
Q: Let’s end things with some words of wisdom. What is a mantra or personal code that motivates and inspires you?
A: I have a couple but one that I go back to often was shared by a woman leader I look up to.
“Nothing is perfect, but everything is ok.”
This was shared with me while working for a non-profit organization centered around creativity as well as well-being, which has come in handy during mentally challenging times.
