Meet CID: Amy Klinkhammer

Usually when someone says it’s time to bring “The Hammer” in it’s cause for alarm. Unless, that is, they’re talking about Amy Klinkhammer, one of the writers and strategists on our award-winning marketing and strategy team! Then it’s time to celebrate because you get to work with a thoughtful, warm, funny, and creative pro. Get to know Amy!

My guilty pleasure is...

Doodling on every piece of paper within my grasp. Every single one. No scrap of parchment is safe from my scribbles, which is probably part of the reason my team works exclusively in digital formats.

I'm most comfortable in...

New places that I can wander through and explore on my own, and familiar places filled with friends, family, my people.

In non-pandemic times, I never leave home without...

A camera, a sketchbook, or my unnecessarily big headphones. Usually all three. Oh, and caffeine!

The last book(s) I read was...

"Don't Be a Jerk," by Brad Warner. It is both a great read and solid life advice.

When I was little I wanted to be...

A ninja. Then an astronaut. Then a ninja-astronaut-super spy. I haven't quite figured out how to make those skills relevant in an agency setting, but I choose to believe that we get closer to that reality every day.

The last show I binged was...

I have rewatched the entire "House, M.D." series so many times that it is shameful. Not shameful enough to stop me from doing it again though.

I spend my social media time on...

Are you guys trying to trick me into exposing my super secret social media persona? Wow. Definitely going to tweet about this later...

Is a hot dog a sandwich?

Hot dogs can be whatever they want to be. Be true to yourselves, hot dogs. I support you.

I’m proud that I always…

Try to make people laugh, even if they're only laughing in a last-ditch effort to stop me from telling more bad jokes. Still counts!

My favorite thing about working at CID is...

Our "Yes, and..." culture. I get to work with incredibly talented and intelligent people who are genuinely open to trying things differently. As a team, we don't shy away from admitting when something isn't working, or embracing new ideas that we think will work even better than "what we've always done." It's a rare quality that I've come to appreciate more and more each day.

One piece of advice to someone starting in my field is...

Combat complacency with creativity. Own your gifts and talents while looking at them through the lenses of "what if?" and "what next?" Writing and other creative roles will constantly present you with opportunities to learn, evolve, and adapt. Embrace as many of those opportunities as you can and you will never be bored — or worse, boring.
